Captain Davis is a former Royal Canadian Army Cadet, Cadet Instructor Cadre Officer and currently holds the position of Deputy Commanding Officer, Seaforth Highlanders of Canada Army Cadet Corps 2893 in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia. Captain Davis has been the Remembrance Day Parade Commander in Maple Ridge for the past 15 years and is responsible for organizing speakers, coordinating volunteers, and planning the parade format. In 2004 Captain Davis searched the names of the lost men of a Liberator Bomber and a P40 fighter plane that had crashed in Maple Ridge. Their names were then placed on a bronze plaque near the cenotaph. That same year, he discovered the names of 15 Maple Ridge soldiers who gave their lives in the First and Second World Wars and raised funds to ensure their names were added to the local cenotaph. His research efforts on the Royal Westminster Regiment's historical ties to Maple Ridge culminated in the receipt of the Freedom of the District of Maple Ridge for the Regiment and an official ceremony and parade for Veterans. In 2006 Captain Davis researched the names of men that had won medals or awards from Maple Ridge and had a plaque placed near the cenotaph. Furthermore, in 2009 Captain Davis assisted the neighbouring community of Pitt Meadows in the gathering of names for their cenotaph. Several years ago, Captain Davis co organized a week long commemorative event in Maple Ridge, which included a theatrical performance with more than 30 historic military vehicles and a display of military artifacts. More than 3000 students attended the event.
