Mr. Barclay is a Canadian Armed Forces Veteran. He has been volunteering with the Perley and Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre since May 2005. Every Tuesday afternoon, Mr. Barclay brings Veteran and non-Veteran residents to listen to a music program. While this initiative helps the musician by allowing her to play for an audience, it also provides an opportunity for Veterans to participate by singing along and actively listening to the music. He has contributed more than 378 hours volunteering with this music program. Mr. Barclay also volunteers many hours in accounting skills to the Veterans’ Council, in order to save the Council bookkeeping fees. He tracks incoming and outgoing funds, pays bills and generally manages the Council’s banking.
