John C. Greenfield

Mr. John Greenfield is an active member of his local Royal Canadian Legion Branch, holding several executive positions and currently serving as Zone Sergeant at Arms. As Veterans' Service Officer, Mr. Greenfield assisted more than 125 Veterans in receiving their benefits and services. He helped more than 70 Veterans to receive the Netherlands Commemorative Medal. Mr. Greenfield gives generously of his time delivering Christmas gifts to Veterans in nursing homes, and placing more than 200 crosses on Veterans' graves every November. Mr. Greenfield and his wife have gathered the names of more than 3,000 Veterans volunteered to serve their community and country in times of war. The names have been inscribed in the Book of Honour in the Town Hall for the public to view. He has been instrumental in having street signs engraved with a poppy to indicate that the street is named in honour of a Veteran. In cooperation with Veterans Affairs Canada, The Royal Canadian Legion appointed Mr. Greenfield to be a Long Term Care Surveyor where he reports on the care and well being of Veterans residing in long term care facilities.
