Lethbridge, Alberta
Mr. Moreland is a Canadian Armed Forces Veteran. He joined the Veterans UN-NATO Canada group in 2009 and, because the provinces and regions of the West are so far apart, he volunteered to be the group’s Western Canada representative. Mr. Moreland quickly established provincial and regional representatives and committees to promote the mission and values of the organization, and he was always available to promote the group by setting up information booths at local shows. With a team of 90 members, Mr. Moreland escorted the organization’s Portraits of Honour across Alberta and, together, they raised $2,300. Mr. Moreland convinced the City of Cold Lake to have a street renamed to Veterans Drive. The renaming ceremony was held in the summer of 2012 during the Freedom of the City parade. As an outstanding ambassador for supporting Veterans, Mr. Moreland co-created a red and black ribbon held in place by a maple leaf and stamped with the letters V.I.M., which stand for Veterans Injury Medallion. This commemorative pin and ribbon set is sold across Canada, with all proceeds going to the Veterans UN-NATO Canada Foundation.
