Mr. John Keresman joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1951 having fifteen years of loyal and honourable service both within Canada and overseas. During that time, Mr. Keresman became a baseball coach and drawing & painting instructor for the Halifax Police Boys Club. After retiring, a move to Stewart, British Columbia, did not deter him from reaching out to others. Mr. Keresman is a 50-year member of the Royal Canadian Legion and is past-President of the Stewart branch, which he helped to make it a success. While in Stewart, he was also instrumental in starting a Sea Cadet Corps. Twenty-five years ago, he moved to Mission, British Columbia. There, Mr. Keresman has been involved with all aspects of Legion work, including the planning and logistics for high profile events such as parades for the Battle of Atlantic, D-Day, VE-Day and Remembrance Day. He is well known for his compassion and heartfelt concern when attending funeral and memorial services for Veterans. In addition to visiting schools, Mr. Keresman is involved with the local Air Cadet Corps, a volunteer dispatcher for the Citizen's Patrol, and was a volunteer ambulance attendant.
