John McKay

A Veteran of the Canadian Forces, Mr. John McKay served in Korea in 1954 and 1955, and was a member of the UN Emergency Forces to Egypt in 1957 and again in 1965. Mr. McKay continued working in the public service until 1994, after more than 41 years of service with the Department of National Defence. He is an active member of this local Korean Veterans Association Unit, holding the position of Sergeant-at-Arms since 1997, as well as holding the same title for Legion Branch 258 for the past two years. He has held the honour of Parade Marshall of "The Old Guard" during the Canada Remembers Air Show in Saskatoon, Remembrance Day ceremonies and Decoration Day for the past five years. As a member of the Masonic Lodge, Mr. McKay has been responsible for putting together Christmas hampers and delivering them to those in need. He is the founder and President of the Canadian Association of Veterans in United Nations Peacekeeping - North Saskatchewan Chapter. In all his voluntary undertakings, Mr. McKay is a strong advocate on behalf of Veterans.
