John Stuart

Mr. Stuart is a retired Gulf War Veteran. With a solid military background, Mr. Stuart has been involved in many projects relating to the Veteran community, keeping alive the remembrance of the service and sacrifice of his fellow soldiers. One of Mr. Stuart's achievements was his unwavering dedication to the creation of The Seventh Book of Remembrance a book created to honour all Canadian Forces members who died in the service of Canada since October 1947, excluding the Korean War. To date, more than 1,600 names have been researched and added to the Book. Mr. Stuart served as a member of the Seventh Book of Remembrance Advisory Committee which oversaw the project from initiation to its dedication on Parliament Hill. Although his Advisory Committee duties have officially ended, Mr. Stuart continues his support in maintaining the Book. He has spent thousands of hours assisting Veterans Affairs Canada in researching and locating military personnel files to ensure all eligible names of those soldiers who died in service are included in the Seventh Book. Mr. Stuart continues that work today. Mr. Stuart is an active member of the Gulf War Veterans Association and routinely attends national ceremonies of remembrance where he represents Gulf War Veterans.
