Jon Ted Wynne

Winnipeg, Manitoba

Mr. Jon Ted Wynne is a Manitoba filmmaker who has produced a series of six films telling the story of Manitoba’s military regiments and how each unit has affected Manitoba’s culture and heritage. The six units represented are The Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders of Canada; The Royal Winnipeg Rifles; The Winnipeg Grenadiers; 2nd Battalion, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry; Fort Garry Horse; and 38 Service Battalion.

One of Mr. Wynne’s objectives was to provide all Manitoba senior high school libraries with a copy of the series so that students would appreciate the significant contributions these Manitoba regiments made in the wars of the 20th century. This effort is ongoing, with DVDs sent to all senior high schools in 2016. Mr. Wynne’s film work and determination in sharing Manitoba’s military history with young people has served to raise awareness of the contribution of Canada’s military to society today.
