Mr. Wadleigh is a Veteran of the Second World War. He has been volunteering at the Perley and Rideau Veterans' Health Centre since 2006, having given more than 1,000 hours of his time. Wanting to share his love of wood carving, Mr. Wadleigh began teaching anyone who was interested. One Veteran came forward and every Tuesday and Thursday mornings the two gentlemen would meet in the Creative Arts department and carve together. The resident Veteran's finished carving was submitted to the Wood Carver's Club and won first prize in 2009. Even though this resident is no longer able to carve, Mr. Wadleigh continues his weekly visits to chat and tell jokes with the residents and he now brings in his favourite music for all to enjoy. Mr. Wadleigh is a loyal volunteer at the Perley Centre and is known by all for his cheerful outlook and demeanour.
