Mr. Schulz is a Veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF). Since his retirement, he has been involved with the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry Association as the contact for the Volunteer Patricia Program, which helps members adjust to life after retirement. Since 2008, Mr. Schulz has been the main volunteer with The Military Museums (TMM) education department where he is the most requested facilitator for the “Marching Drill and Uniform Try-On” program. This program gives children aged 5 to 18 years an opportunity to wear a CAF uniform from the past and learn about the military. In 2012, Mr. Schulz hosted 1,897 children in the program. He has taken the program beyond the drill and dress-up to include aspects of history, educating on the insignia and the importance of teamwork and working together. In addition to this extensive full-time volunteer job, he also assists the local schools with many classroom activities and events. Mr. Schulz is a valuable volunteer who gives tirelessly of himself to promote Veterans and explain the lifestyle of CAF members to the general public.
