Larry Brown (posthumous)

Kirkland Lake, Ontario

Mr. Brown was a Second World War Veteran. For 45 years, he was an active member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 87, in Kirkland Lake, where he served in a number of executive positions, including two terms as president. He also held the position of branch service officer and branch bulletin publisher for more than two decades. Mr. Brown was a life member and received several Legion honours and awards, including the Certificate of Merit, the Meritorious Service Medal and the Palm Leaf. He was the driving force behind Branch 87’s "House of Remembrance," which is located at the Kirkland Lake Cemetery. It serves as a lasting tribute to the men and women of Branch 87. Mr. Brown continued to serve and perform various functions for the "House of Remembrance" until his death in September 2011.
