Mr. Leonard Proteau is an active member of both The Royal Canadian Legion and the Korea Veterans Association. He has served for six years as Secretary for the Korea Veterans Association Unit 15 Niagara. Mr. Proteau is presently involved with driving many of his fellow Veterans to medical appointments, as well as looking after the needs of their families. He maintains and decorates Veterans's burial sites. He also undertook major repairs to some of the sites, at his own expense. For ceremonial occasions, Mr. Proteau places poppies on Veterans' grave sites. He has served as the Administration Officer for the Thunder Bay and Niagara Falls Air Cadet Squadrons for more than seven years. Mr. Proteau has also donated his time to fundraising for student bursaries so that a younger generation might continue their education.
