Mr. Kemp is a Second World War Veteran. A dedicated supporter of Veterans' needs, in particular those of the Merchant Navy, Mr. Kemp assisted with negotiations which led to a successful settlement with the government for Merchant Navy seamen. As a representative of the Merchant Navy, Mr. Kemp has represented this group numerous times at military pilgrimages and at wreath- laying ceremonies in Ottawa and other Ontario locations. He regularly visits schools in the Oshawa area to speak with students and give them a deeper appreciation of Canada's military history. As National President of the League of Merchant Mariner Veterans in Canada, Mr. Kemp is always available to assist Merchant Navy Veterans across Canada with any of their concerns regarding benefits and services.
