Lois Brown

Kensington, Prince Edward Island

Mrs. Brown is a Second World War Veteran who served with the Canadian Women's Army Corps stationed in Saint John, New Brunswick. She has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary since 1956 and has served in every executive office of the Auxiliary. In 1986, Mrs. Brown joined The Royal Canadian Legion (RCL) and served as Zone Commander for two years. She has been a member of the Executive since 1988. She has helped to organize the Legion Children's Christmas Party since the 1990s and makes up Christmas fruit baskets and delivers them to all Veterans’ widows and Veterans in nursing homes and in hospitals. Mrs. Brown has been the Chairperson of the Poster and Essay Contest for 20 years. She provides information about the contest to schools, later picks up the posters and essays, helps to judge them, and takes the winners to the Provincial Command in Charlottetown. She worked on a committee that travelled to all war monuments on Prince Edward Island to take photographs of them and record information for a book that will be published soon. Mrs. Brown worked on a committee that gathered information for the new Kensington Legion History Book. She has also gathered information and photos of Veterans who served in times of war for the Legion Remembrance Booklets.
