Louis (Lou) Mazur

Mr. Louis Mazur joined Unit 100 of the Army, Navy & Air Force Veterans in Canada and was initiated as an associate member on May 14, 1985. From 1985 to 1994, Mr. Mazur was very active on several standing committees and volunteered in countless ways. As a member of the Finance Committee in 1999, Mr. Mazur played an essential role in stabilizing the Unit’s finances by restructuring its spending practices. These spending policies continue today. Mr. Mazur became an affiliate member in 2000, president in 2003, the 3rd vice-president of British Columbia Provincial Command in 2009 and, in 2010, Mr. Mazur received his Life Membership in the association. Mr. Mazur also spent four years as the Unit’s service officer. To this day, he continues to visit those with ailing health in hospitals and seniors’ homes and assists with Veteran luncheons at the unit. Mr. Mazur has consistently marched in parades, has been the Liaison Officer for the Provincial Command Colour Guard for the past six years, has been a member of the South Vancouver Veterans Council since 2005, and has represented the Provincial Command on the Vancouver Remembrance Day Committee for the past six years. For his efforts with the numerous organizations, Mr. Mazur has been highly decorated. He received the Order for Service award from the Army, Navy & Air Force Veterans in Canada, in 2014. His incredible contributions and commitment to Unit 100, and to all units within the province, has been immeasurable.
