A Veteran of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF), Lt. Col Burrows had a long, distinguished career as a fighter pilot and served on two UN peacekeeping missions. As Regional Director Pacific of the RCAF Association, Lt Col. Burrows submitted a resolution to create a 7th Book of Remembrance. This Book of Remembrance would commemorate peacekeepers, and Navy, Army and Air Force personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty in peacetime and during the Cold War. This resolution, quickly adopted by the Air Force Association was officially submitted to the Minister of Veterans Affairs for his consideration. Mr. Burrows undertook a decade-long personal lobbying of various Veterans' associations and agencies to seek their support for this project. Through this committed team effort came the announcement in 2002 of the 7th Book of Remembrance, to join the other six Books of Remembrance in the Memorial Chamber in Ottawa's Peace Tower on Parliament Hill. Through his unwavering persistence and devotion, Lt Col. Burrows has made a remarkable and lasting contribution to the remembrance of the sacrifice and achievements of Canada's Veterans.
