Mr. Girardeau is a Veteran of the Second World War. He has been an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion (RCL) for more than 65 years. He is known as the living memory of his branch. Despite his age, Mr. Girardeau actively participates in assemblies and offers his well informed opinion, which is very much appreciated by the other members. He has held a number of executive positions in the RCL and since March of 2011, he is a Life Member. Mr. Girardeau is also a member of the Canadian Gunner Association in Mauricie and of the Military History Society of Mauricie. He encourages members of these organizations to support Veterans. Mr. Girardeau does not miss an occasion to speak about Veterans during commemorative activities.
