Margaret E. Foley

A Life Member of Branch No. 42 of The Royal Canadian Legion (RCL), Mrs. Foley has served various terms in every position at the Branch as well as on numerous committees. She is presently co-chair of the Poppy Committee and oversees all campaigns run by individual Branches in the Toronto Area. She is actively involved in the Youth and Education Program and, while not ordained, has been acting as the Branch's Chaplain, performing many funeral services for Veterans at their family's request. Mrs. Foley is involved with the Metro Toronto Legion Village where she assists Veterans making crafts for the annual Bazaar, which often yields more than 600 gifts for distribution to Veterans in the Greater Toronto area. As Chair of the Remembrance Day Services committee, Mrs. Foley has provided leadership in commemorative activities, and has conducted November 11th ceremonies in the Beaches area. She ensures that parade and parking permits are appropriately delivered, coordinates the placement of chairs and platforms, books musical arrangements, sound systems and oversees the printing of programs. Mrs. Foley is very active in the life of the Legion, always making herself available, whether to chair meetings, arrange daily bus trips for Veterans or coordinating monthly luncheons. An extremely generous person, Mrs. Foley is always working to further the cause and the memory of the sacrifice and achievements of Canada's Veterans. She was recently awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for her devotion to Veterans in her Community.
