Marilyn A. Bonnier

Mrs. Bonnier's work on behalf of Veterans began in 1948, when she first joined the Ladies Auxiliary of The Royal Canadian Legion (RCL). A Veteran of the Royal Canadian Air Force, she served on various Early Warning Bases as a Fighter Control Operator from 1950 to 1955. For the last 30 years, Mrs Bonnier has held positions of increasing responsibility in the Ladies Auxiliary of the RCL, serving as Committee Chair to the President. She has also been Chair of the Poppy and Remembrance Committee for more than 30 years. In 1974, as the Secretary of the RCL Committee, Mrs. Bonnier recommended that all First World War Veterans be granted "Life Membership". This motion was quickly adopted. In recognition of her contribution to Veterans and to the community, Mrs. Bonnier was presented with the Legions's highest award, the Meritorious Service Medal. Mrs. Bonnier is active in youth groups and distributes remembrance materials to schools. Recently, she oversaw the implementation of an Educational Memorial Scholarship ' a memorial to deceased members of The Royal Canadian Legion.
