Mario Fortin

As a 35-year Veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces, Mr. Fortin’s career took him on many missions, including deployments to Germany, Haiti, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Afghanistan. Upon his release in 2015, he became involved with the Veterans’ community in his region. Mr. Fortin is a member of the Association of Former Sergeants of the Fusiliers Mont-Royal and of the Association of the Royal 22e Régiment. He is the Sergeant-at-Arms for the Amical des vétérans de Terrebonne and he serves as regional president of the Veterans UN-NATO group in the Lanaudière region. Through his involvement with this organization, he is able to help his peers by sharing personal stories and helping Veterans and their families with the reconciliation process. Mr. Fortin is well known and highly sought after by his peers and their families who are looking for help. In addition to his work dedicated to the welfare of his brothers in arms, Mr. Fortin ensures that the sacrifices of Canada’s Veterans are not forgotten. He organizes multi-generational meetings, bringing students and Veterans together. He participates in numerous commemorative ceremonies and unselfishly shares his passion for military artefacts with everyone who crosses his path.
