Mary Hooper is nominated for her excellent service with the Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans in Canada—Unit 393, London. She joined the Ladies Auxiliary in 1976 and has spent many years as Secretary and has been President of the unit since 2004.
She has organized several fundraisers including monthly bingos for Veterans at Parkwood Hospital and hosts two summer barbecues every year, recruiting volunteers and high school students to participate. She helps deliver annual Christmas bags for men and women at the hospital and helps organize “pie days and special meal days.”
She has spent tireless hours working with the City of London to establish a “Lottery Fund” in order to raise money and contribute to various charities, including the Army, Navy and Air Cadets and War Amps. She participates in the annual Remembrance Day and organizes a luncheon afterwards in support of Veterans.
