Maxine Bredt

Mrs. Maxine Bredt is a Veteran of the Second World War. She served with the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps from January 1944 to April 1946 as a Nursing Sister. Today, Mrs. Bredt gives her time and energy to Veterans through admirable companionship. Veterans are more than just patients for Mrs. Bredt ' they are like family. In fact, she has been the only visitor to one Veteran for the last 13 years. Mrs. Bredt is a long standing member of The Royal Canadian Legion, Hudson Branch, where she eagerly participates in various activities including the annual Remembrance Day ceremonies. She is also a member of the Quebec Command Advisory Committee that oversaw the renovations at Ste. Anne's Veterans Hospital, where she has volunteered for more than 30 years. Her contribution to the work of the Committee has had a positive impact on the success of this high-profile initiative. For the last several years, Mrs. Bredt has participated in the Remembrance Day Service at the United Church in Hudson, and she often recites "In Flanders Field" ' a highlight of the service. Among several military decorations, Mrs. Bredt is also a recipient of the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal.
