Michael Dawe

Mr. Dawe is an active historian who has authored books relating to Alberta’s participation during the World Wars. Mr. Dawe is a frequent guest speaker at the annual Vimy Banquet held at The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 35. He has delivered more than a dozen presentations to the patients at the Dr. Richard Parsons Auxiliary Hospital and local nursing homes, as well as presentations on the history of war at the Red Deer and District Museum. He has authored more than 20 articles relating to Canada's participation in the Boer War, and the First and Second World Wars and the Korean War. Mr. Dawe has visited many schools to provide remembrance-themed presentations. He routinely receives requests for information pertaining to the World Wars from members of the public and the Veteran community. Mr. Dawe provides research and archival assistance to the Red Deer and District Museum on Remembrance Day helping families to find photos of their kin from the Wars. Mr. Dawe is noted in his community for being a keeper of Alberta’s wartime contributions. Of late, he co-authored and delivered a speech on Passchendaele. Through the years Mr. Dawe has always made himself available to share his passion for Canada’s military history.
