Michael Joseph Beggs

Michael Joseph Beggs is a Veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces and is nominated for his dedicated service to The Royal Canadian Legion. He has been a member of Branch 191 in Chemainus for the past 26 years.

During this time, he served as Branch President for six years and has been the Service Officer since 2008. As Service Officer, he has done an “incredible job” serving Veterans and their families. He ensures that he is up-to-date with any policy changes and provides accurate and comprehensive advice and assistance.

During Veterans’ Week activities, he has been a team leader and spent many years as a co-chair of the Poppy Campaign. He volunteers with the colour party, visits schools to speak with students and plays a leading role in the operation of the “Friday Night Bingo.” He has also served as the Parade Marshal / Commander during Remembrance Day ceremonies, the Chairman of the Legion’s 50th anniversary in 1996, and served as Poster and Literary Judge for 11 years.
