Mr. Lowe is a Second World War Veteran who served during the Battle of the Atlantic and D-Day. He has been an active member of The Royal Canadian Legion since 1952 having served on the Executive and several committees including: the Scholarship and Awards committee; Poppy Chairman; 1st Vice President; and, in 1986 was President of Branch 34. Mr. Lowe became a Life Member in 1987. In 1985, Mr. Lowe became a Charter member of the Royal Canadian Naval Association and served two years as President of the Admiral Murray Branch. Mr. Lowe is a member of the Legion choir and the Stellarton Chorus, which visit senior facilities to perform for the residents. For the past 8 years, Mr. Lowe has been involved with the Remembrance Day Assembly at a local New Glasgow school and has also been a speaker at other schools in the District. Mr. Lowe has also been Parade Marshall on the occasion of Remembrance Day ceremonies.
