Mr. James Chipman

Mr. Chipman is a Korea War Veteran and retired member of the Canadian Forces. Mr. Chipman is a member of Branch 72 of The Royal Canadian Legion and has assisted the Service Officer of the Legion Branch in Truro, Nova Scotia on numerous occasions by providing names of Veterans who reside in rural areas and need assistance. He visits Veterans and seniors weekly at two nursing homes in his community. For many years, Mr. Chipman was caregiver to his wife who had suffered a severe stroke. After his wife's death, Mr. Chipman donated all her special medical equipment, to the Legion Branch in Truro. For more than 30 years, Mr. Chipman has decorated local Veterans' graves with a cross, flag and poppy. He is actively involved in Remembrance Day events in his community and works with the organizers of both the annual Peacekeeper's Day ceremonies. He is a mentor to active Canadian Forces members informing them of all the programs and benefits available to them and their families. Mr. Chipman is a recipient of the Queen's Silver Jubilee Medal and the Centennial Medal.
