Mr. Michel Bessette is a Veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces. He enrolled in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1973 and was released in 1978. Since 2009, Mr. Bessette has worked as a volunteer to help the new generation of Veterans. A pioneer with Veterans UN-NATO Canada, he served as Lanaudière/Laurentides Regional President for over four years, taking part in local and regional commemorative activities. He has also received the Canadian Coat of Arms for his involvement with Veterans.
Mr. Bessette has contributed greatly to making the organization what it is today. He has worked to unite Veterans from many parts of Canada. For five years he has taken on the duties of National President of Veterans UN-NATO Canada, where he organizes national-level activities. Through his tireless efforts, he has promoted awareness of the group at the national and international levels, with members of the organization in France and Germany. Mr. Bessette also sits on the New Veterans Charter Advisory Committee, along with representatives of other associations with the same goal of promoting the well-being of Veterans, and the Minister of Veterans Affairs Advisory Group.
Mr. Bessette is always available to help a peer and better the organization. He is part of the advisory committee for the commemoration and also participates in the events of The Royal Canadian Legion and his local Veterans’ associations.
