Murray Floyd

Dundas, Ontario

Following a distinguished career in Canadian Armed Forces, Mr. Floyd became a Service Officer for the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 36 and has been a member for 30 years. He served for 20 years on the Branch Colour Party, and for many years, he has manned a Remembrance Day Display at a local shopping mall, where he sold poppies. Mr. Floyd is currently serving on the Legion’s Executive as Sergeant at Arms. As a result of his knowledge and experience, along with his sense of compassion and care, he has been able to assist many Veterans in obtaining appropriate benefits and services. Mr. Floyd has been very active in commemorating the service and sacrifice of Canada’s Veterans. He was responsible for organizing a group of like-minded citizens who began caring for the grave sites of local Veterans. As the ranks of his original group dwindle, he enlisted the assistance of a group of cadets who have carried on this work with great care and respect. Through his wonderful initiative, Mr. Floyd has helped pass the torch of remembrance to local youth.
