Norman Crewe

Mr. Crewe is a Merchant Navy Veteran who served during the Second World War. He has been a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 55 years, and has served on the Fairview Branch Colour Party for 18 years. He is a member and the initiator of the Halifax-Dartmouth Branch of the Canadian Merchant Navy Veterans Association. For 16 years, Mr. Crewe has been in charge of its Colour Party or participated in annual ceremonies related to the Battle of the Atlantic, Remembrance Day and Merchant Navy Veterans Day, as well as for memorial services at St. Marks Church and the Camp Hill Veterans’ Memorial Building. Mr. Crewe is also in charge of the Honour Guard at funeral services for Merchant Navy Veterans. In addition, Mr. Crewe has been visiting approximately 170 war Veterans at the Camp Hill Veterans’ Memorial Building, in Halifax, every Thursday for the past 12 years. He also visits Veterans and friends at other Capital Health facilities.
