Norman Gaillard

Quispamsis, New Brunswick

Mr. Gaillard is a retired Canadian Forces Veteran. He has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion (RCL) for more than 48 years, where he has fulfilled every appointment at the Branch level and is currently serving as Past President and is the Service Officer of the Kennebecasis Branch #58. He was Zone Commander of Number 1 Zone within New Brunswick Command. As a Branch Service Officer, he provides support to Veterans in a variety of capacities, such as helping them with their living conditions or assisting them in applying for disability benefits. Mr. Gaillard volunteers as a Long Term Care Surveyor in Southern New Brunswick on behalf of the RCL. He has been a member of the board of a not-for-profit housing complex that accommodates primarily Veterans for 6 years, and he has been board chair for the past three years. After the December 2010 floods in New Brunswick, Mr. Gaillard, along with the approval of Branch #58’s Executive, gave a grant of $1,000 to a Saint George Veteran and issued a challenge in the media to have Veterans' groups in the area match his donation. This is but one example of Mr. Gaillard’s dedication to taking care of the needs of local Veterans.
