Pierre Garneau

Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec

Mr. Garneau is a veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces who served in numerous locations in Canada and throughout the world over the course of his career in the Forces. He is the president of the Richelieu Branch (Quebec 79) of the Royal Canadian Legion in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu and president of Projet ORIFLAMMES. He was twice unanimously elected to head up communications at his local branch. As part of his communications duties, Mr. Garneau has created photo montages, sends out a weekly newsletter and created a website for his Legion branch. Mr. Garneau was also responsible for organizing “wear red” days to honour the Canadian soldiers who served in Afghanistan, and he helped his Legion branch with the preparations for welcoming back troops from Afghanistan in 2011. Thanks to his tireless dedication, he has organized and emceed spaghetti dinners to raise funds for the Canadian soldiers in Afghanistan. Mr. Garneau continues to actively represent veterans in ceremonies, graduation parades, during the Poppy Campaign and in the schools.
