Mr. Roberts is a Korea War Veteran and retired Canadian Forces Veteran. Since 1992, he has been The Royal Canadian Legion's Service Officer for Branch 150. He has instigated a number of initiatives to help Veterans, including a "Sick and Visiting Committee" to visit Veterans in their homes and hospitals, and an "Isle Madame Veteran's Comfort Fund" to assist Veterans. He works hard to ensure Veterans and their families are aware of the services and benefits available to them. He has had Veterans' medals re-ribboned and cleaned at no cost to them and initiated the annual inspection of Veterans' graves in the community to ensure their upkeep. He also personally raised $22,000 for new beds in the Veterans' wing of a local nursing home, and continuously ensures commemorative ceremonies take place for residents.
