Mr. Cameron is a Veteran of the Merchant Navy. He is always available to lend assistance with the League of Merchant Mariner Veterans in Canada. He is on the Executive of his Royal Canadian Legion Branch and is also Service Officer, assisting numerous Veterans in obtaining benefits. Mr. Cameron has fulfilled the role of poppy chairman for his branch and is part of a group of Veterans who visit schools annually to speak to youth about the contribution of the Merchant Navy to Canada's military history.
