Mr. Sawchuk is a retired member of the Canadian Forces. Mr. Sawchuk is a member of the Canadian Association of Veterans in United Nations Peacekeeping and has been actively involved in the organization. He has been a long-time member of the Joint Veterans Association serving on various committees. This includes drafting bylaws, determining qualifications for Veterans licence plates, establishing the Veterans Memorial Highway, renovating the Women’s Memorial Pavilion at Deer Lodge and fundraising. Mr. Sawchuk has represented his association on the Veterans Affairs Canada advisory councils for Manitoba, the Prairie Region and Western Canada. He is known for his leadership in guiding Veterans’ groups toward a common goal.
