Regina, Saskatchewan
Mr. Tweten is a reservist with the Canadian Cadet Organization and was a dedicated public school teacher for thirty-five years who retired from teaching in 2010. Mr. Tweten went above and beyond his regular teaching duties to ensure his students, as well as youth from cadet organizations, were brought together with Veterans at annual Remembrance Day ceremonies. Over the years, Mr. Tweten brought his students to the Regina Armouries so they could meet with various soldiers and learn about their military experiences. Mr. Tweten’s dedication and effort would then see the number of attendees grow to include youth from 22 local schools, youth from various Cadet and Reserve units, and he ensured that the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan would be in attendance and have a speaking role. Bringing youth together with Veterans is very important to Mr. Tweten.
