Richard Carriere

Cobourg, Ontario

Mr. Carriere is a Canadian Forces Veteran. He has been an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion since 1987, having served in many executive capacities. His expert computer skills enabled his branch to save countless dollars over the years on printing costs, as Mr. Carriere was able to personally design and print numerous posters, tickets, signs, cards and invitations. From 1999 to 2004, he served as public relations officer and editor of his branch’s bulletin. Mr. Carriere also served as branch service officer from 2006 to 2009, where he assisted countless Veterans and their dependents in obtaining services and benefits. He continues to visit Veterans in their homes or retirement residences where he spends time playing cards or just talking with the Veterans. In his spare time, Mr. Carriere upgraded the computers at his Legion branch, donating newer computers, and is always on hand to assist and fix computer related problems. Mr. Carriere is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Legion Village Inc. in Cobourg, which sees to the care and well being of seniors and Veterans.
