Richard Malott

Mr. Malott is a Canadian Armed Forces Veteran. He has been a member of the Royal Canadian Legion (RCL) since 1978, serving in various capacities. For over15 years, Mr. Malott has spearheaded the distribution of poppies for the annual campaign to more than 30 stores and restaurants. In 2013, Mr. Malott was recognized and awarded the designation of Lifetime Member for his work with the RCL. Mr. Malott is also Chairman of the Seniors, Hospital Visitation and Christmas Gift Committee, providing gifts to more than 650 Veterans and widows, many of whom reside in retirement homes, hospitals and long-term care facilities. He was the chief curator of Collections for the Canadian War Museum from 1974 to 1992. While at the Museum, he researched Victoria Cross and George Cross recipients, resulting in the comprehensive publication, Valiant Men, part of the Museum's Publication Program. Mr. Malott was also the executive director of the Organization of Military Museums of Canada Inc., from 1974 to 2000. During this time, he was responsible for 63 active military museums in Canada.
