Richard William Hessler

Richard Hessler is a Veteran of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the Canadian Armed Forces. He is nominated for his work as an artist in commemorating and honouring our Veterans.

He is a “profound artist” and has donated many of his works of art to Veteran care facilities to promote remembrance and to enrich their facilities.

He designed and was involved in building the cenotaph for the City of Chestermere Lake. The cenotaph was unveiled in November 2015 and now hosts the city’s annual Remembrance Day service. He also designed and built a cenotaph to commemorate the involvement of the King’s Own Calgary Regiment in the Dieppe Raid during the Second World War. The cenotaph was unveiled on August 19, 2017 in Dieppe.

He has also donated over ten simulated Second World War aircraft noses to Veterans’ care facilities and Legions.
