Robert “Bob” Allan Remple joined the British Columbia Regiment Association over 20 years ago and immediately became instrumental in the organization of the association’s battlefield tours.
Living in England, he would travel to continental Europe to perform site recces, helping to ensure hotels were suitable and that the trip would be smooth for all who attended. Upon returning to North America, he continued to assist with all logistical aspects of planning and execution of several tours and his skills were critical to their success. His work helped Second World War Veterans return to Europe one last time and for modern Veterans to visit the battlefields to carry on the torch of remembrance.
In addition to his work on the battlefield tours, he was actively involved in fundraising initiatives with the association. Beyond personal donations, he regularly helped on events such as the annual Veterans’ lunch and the annual Christmas fundraiser, which generally raised upwards of $40,000 for the Charitable Trust.
Bob also lent his professional experience as a chartered public accountant to the association and organizations within the regimental family. The museum, the association and both trusts benefitted from his expertise. He provided accounting services and financial advice, ensuring financial statements and tax returns were accurate and submitted on time.
During his time with the British Columbia Regiment Association, he served in the Executive as a Director, Vice-President, Treasurer and as the President for three years.
