Mr. Farquharson is a Second World War Veteran of the Burma Campaign. He has been a member of the Burma Squadrons Association since shortly after its inception in the early 1950s. The Association has produced a newsletter for over 60 years called Pukkha Gen, which translates as 'good information'. For the past two years, Mr. Farquharson has produced this invaluable newsletter, which keeps members of the Burma Squadrons 435/436 informed and up-to-date on reunions, ceremonies and the passing of fellow comrades. Always working to ensure that Canadians learn about the Burma Veterans' contribution during the Second World War, Mr. Farquharson authored a book entitled For Your Tomorrow: Canadians and the Burma Campaign, 1941-1945. He also contributed a story in writing and in audio to The Memory Project's 'Stories of the Second World War' and frequently addresses school groups under their auspices. Mr. Farquharson continues to ensure the Government of Canada recognizes the achievements and sacrifice of the Burma Veterans.
