Robert Geddes

Warrant Officer 2nd Class Robert Geddes (Retired), a Veteran of the Canadian Forces, served as an army reservist from 1949 to 1950; in Canada’s first NATO unit overseas (27th Brigade) from 1951 to 1953, and continued in the army reserves with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles Regiment until his retirement in 1965. He is a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 4 and the Army Navy and Air Force Veterans in Canada Unit 283. As a vital member of The Royal Winnipeg Rifles Regimental Association branches in British Columbia and in Winnipeg, Manitoba, he has continued to advocate for and serve Veterans. Mr. Geddes volunteers his time to visit sick Veterans at the Deer Lodge Centre in Winnipeg, and he has graciously volunteered to take senior leadership roles with the Regimental Association, such as Treasurer and now Vice President.

Mr. Geddes has been actively involved in celebrating Veterans’ accomplishments and in commemorating their sacrifice. He volunteers at the Regimental Museum during Veterans’ Week. More than 500 children visit the Museum at Minto Armouries and Brookside Cemetery, where they have the opportunity to learn about the achievements and the sacrifices of Canadian Veterans. Mr. Geddes helps with the D-Day reunion through a commemorative service at Vimy Park and a luncheon at the Armouries. He is always ready to lend a helping hand with Association activities.
