Mr. Speranza has been promoting remembrance among youth and adults for the last 20 years. He has taken part in many Remembrance Day ceremonies, held assemblies and taken on other activities with students such as visiting Veterans at Ste. Anne's Hospital. He also writes to them and to peacekeepers serving overseas several times a year. Mr. Speranza is constantly on the lookout for projects that will allow youth to discover more about Canada's rich military history. In honour of the 90th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge, he began a project with students and teachers to build a replica of the St. Julien Memorial at a local school. For the last five years, he has been working as Spiritual Care, Community Involvement and Guidance Animator, serving a number of communities and schools. Mr. Speranza has worked with Scouts Canada to organize Scouts' visits with Veterans in their homes and seniors' residences. Mr. Speranza has also worked with Veterans to promote the spirit of the Olympic Games in various schools that he serves.
