Mr. Fortier is a veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces who served as a military police de-tective for the CAF. As a member of his local branch of the Royal Canadian Legion, Mr. Fortier worked tirelessly to establish linkages between veterans and the Canadian Forces Leadership and Recruit School in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. He takes part in the CFLRS graduation ceremonies and parades, and he accompanies recruits to the National Field of honour in Pointe-Claire to speak to them about the importance of Remembrance. Mr. Fortier is active in the Poppy Campaign, notably during Veterans Week and by mobi-lizing private industry. He often visits the local cenotaph and takes charge of parking for ceremonies held at the Legion. In addition to this work, Mr. Fortier acted as veteran am-bassador to welcome home CAF troops on their return from Afghanistan.
