Roland Soper

Mr. Soper is a Veteran of the Korean War. He is a long-time member of the Korea Veterans Association and has held many offices including two terms as Prairie regional president, unit president, branch secretary, newsletter editor and public relations officer. For the past eight years he has been Webmaster of the national association's Website. Mr. Soper is also a member of The Royal Canadian Legion and volunteers for the Calgary Poppy Fund. Furthermore, he is a long-time member of Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry Association, Airborne Regiment Association of Canada, the Dominion Institute's Memory Project and is a member of the Honourable Guard of Calgary's Military Museum. Through the Museum's Outreach Program, he has addressed nearly 20,000 students over the years and he was presented with the museums award of merit in 2003. Mr. Soper has written many articles for numerous publications, as well as a book, Sword of Wood, based on interviews he conducted with Hong Kong prisoners of war. Mr. Soper is the recipient of the associations' highest honour - the Distinguished Service Star as well as the Queens Golden Jubilee Medal
