Lieutenant Commander Vaillancourt is currently the National Capital Coordinator of the Regional Cadet Support Unit (Central) Detachment, Trenton, Ontario. His goal is to ensure youth participation, through the Canadian Cadet organizations, in as many ceremonies as possible. Since his tenure began in 2000, cadet participation at events and ceremonies has increased significantly. With more than 1,000 cadets in over 20 cadet units across the National Capital Region, Mr. Vaillancourt volunteers in excess of 100 hours annually to organize and coordinate three major commemorative ceremonies: Battle of Vimy Ridge, Battle of the Atlantic and Wreaths Across Canada. He commits an additional 100 hours, from early October to mid-November, to Veterans' Week activities. Mr. Vaillancourt is a member of the Shearwater Aviation Museum Foundation, the Canadian Naval Memorial Trust, and the Naval Association of Canada. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Navy League of Canada, Ottawa Branch, since 2000.
