Mr. Griffis is a retired Canadian Forces Veteran, provincial police officer and senior regional full-time presiding justice of the peace (southwest region) in the province of Ontario. Prior to and since his retirement, Mr. Griffis has been an active volunteer on behalf of many Veterans and families of the Canadian Association of Veterans in United Nations Peacekeeping. He has recently been re-elected to serve a second two-year term as the association's National President. Throughout his tenure as National President, he has continued to provide counsel and leadership to the membership of 27 chapters across Canada. Mr. Griffis serves on several Veterans Affairs Canada committees including the Gerontological Advisory Council, the New Veterans Charter Committee and the Veterans' Week Working Group. He has travelled across the country and to Europe representing the association at numerous national meetings and ceremonies. Mr. Griffis is a long-standing and dedicated member of The Royal Canadian Legion, the Canadian Peacekeeping Veterans Association and the Army, Navy, Air Force Veterans Association of Canada.
