A Veteran of the Second World War, Mr. Rogers demonstrated unwavering interest towards Veterans issues and was a dedicated member of the Royal Canadian Legion for over 40 years, having served in many executive capacities. A testimony of Mr. Rogers' concern for the Veterans welfare was his long-standing commitment to the Veterans and staff at Parkwood Hospital in London. Prior to becoming a resident of Parkwood Hospital, he visited Veterans there every Thursday for 26 years. Mr. Rogers was instrumental in coordinating annual Warriors' Day events at the Western Fair for Veteran patients and residents of Parkwood Hospital. He assisted in coordinating bus trips to the cenotaph on VE-Day and Remembrance Day for Veterans and he also participated in various memorial services.
