Ms. Clements is a member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 60, in West Vancouver. She served as the Executive member for public relations, was editor of the newsletter, worked on the website and the annual Poppy Campaign, and helps Veterans with their computers. Ms. Clements’ dedication to remembrance led her to successfully suggest to her Legion branch that the books in its library be donated to the West Vancouver Memorial Library so that everyone could have access to the materials. She has served as a member of the Royal Canadian Legion’s British Columbia and Yukon Command Communications Committee and also assists Len Corben, a sports writer for the North Shore Outlook, with his sports-related remembrance article on November 11. Ms. Clements received the Corporation of the District of West Vancouver 2007 Heritage Award for researching the names listed on the West Vancouver Cenotaph. Since 2007, Ms. Clements has invested more than 12,000 hours on research for her project to honour the memory of British Columbia’s Veterans. Her ultimate goal is to set up a website that will list all of the British Columbian soldiers who were killed in action, and to connect them to the British Columbian cenotaphs and memorials where their names are listed, as well as to any geographical features named after them. Ms. Clements is working toward having the website up and running for the centenary of the First World War. Thus far, she has compiled more than 15,107 soldiers in her database, and has contacted a wide variety of organizations to provide them with corrections and additions to be made on headstones, cenotaphs, virtual memorials, and others.
