Sandra Delorme-Elliott

Mrs. Delorme-Elliott is the Secretary-Treasurer and Membership Chair for Unit 12 of the Korea Veterans Association of Canada (KVA) in Kingston, where she has helped to balance the finances of the unit. She still serves the unit, despite suffering from cancer. She has also served as secretary for Unit 36 of the KVA in Cranbrook, British Columbia. At the national level, Mrs. Delorme-Elliott chaired the KVA unit’s honours and awards committee, making sure each Veteran received all medals and awards due, including the Ambassador of Peace Medal. Mrs. Delorme-Elliott was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion when she lived in Calgary, Alberta, where she was president of the Ladies’ Auxiliary and was the membership chair of the branch. Living in Creston, British Columbia, she served as secretary for the Legion’s East Kootenay Zone. As a volunteer for these organizations, she organized numerous events to improve the quality of life of Veterans, including dances, Christmas parties, barbecues and yard sales. She also arranged for two representatives from Veterans Affairs Canada to talk to KVA members and their spouses about benefits available to them.
