Mr. Sean Black is a former member of the Royal Canadian Army Cadets Corps #2573 (6 Engineer Squadron). Since 2005, he has been an integral part of local commemorative events and special Veterans’ activities. His endeavors include assisting Veterans Affairs Canada at the local public library during Veterans’ Week; multiple years contributing to the remembrance-themed Canada Day celebrations at the Port Moody Station Museum; participating in the military history shows at the George Derby Veterans Care Centre; and being involved, for the past seven years, with the annual military history encampment at Parks Canada’s Fort Rodd Hill. His commitment to honouring Canadian Veterans is clearly demonstrated by his contributions to a specific event: during an event to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the First World War, Mr. Black stayed awake throughout the entire night, ringing a Royal Canadian Navy ship’s bell from the Second World War every 15 minutes to signal the change of the cenotaph sentries. Mr. Black’s dedication to Canadian Veterans is well known in his local community. He is always present and eager to help in any way he is able.
